A Visa® debit card allows you to make purchases with the money available in your checking account. Each time you sign for a purchase made with your ACU debit card, you'll earn rewards points that can be redeemed for merchant gift cards, airline tickets, merchandise, etc. See what you can earn and track your points here.
Your debit card also enables you to access your account 24 hours a day from any ATM. Use our ATM locator to find those near you that you can use at no charge whatsoever.
We offer instant-issue debit cards, so that when you visit any of our branches to open a checking account and apply for a debit card, you will leave with a new debit card in your hands rather than having to wait 7-10 days for one to arrive in the mail. By getting your debit card on the spot from us, it also lets you choose whatever four digits you want to use for your PIN!
Our cards are also compatible with Apple Pay®, Android Pay™ and Samsung Pay® on select smartphones, which means you don't even have to pull out your Arsenal card when paying for purchases at the checkout terminal.
As an option, you can apply for a debit card online. Click here to print a debit card application. If you are a home banking user, you can also apply online with our secure applications inside AccessPoint Secure Online Banking.
When you use your debit card, you don't have to worry about carrying over balances or accruing finance charges as with a credit card. While a debit card can replace cash and checks when shopping and traveling, a credit card would be a better choice for big-ticket items that you can break down into monthly payments.
Know that you are protected by Visa's Zero Liability policy if your debit card is used fraudulently and you report such activity in a timely manner. Verified by Visa goes a step further than Visa’s comprehensive fraud protection, adding an extra layer of security when you enter credit card information online. We strongly encourage you to activate this protection now if you haven’t already done so; it’s easy, quick and free for you to do!
Whenever you will be traveling, be sure to let us know in advance so we can prevent your debit card transactions from being declined while you are out of town due to unusual behavior and the appearance of your card being fraudulently used by others. Fill out an online travel notification by signing into your online banking account, clicking on the Secure Forms tab, and then clicking on the Travel Notification for Debit and Credit Cards option. Fill out the form, and you will have complete access to your card while away. You can also call to let us know you're leaving at 314.962.6363 or 618.239.6363, option 6 then option 1.
Debit cards are a more convenient option than carrying cash, and they are vital for making everyday purchases. If your card becomes stolen or compromised, you need to know right away. Set up alerts for your debit card to receive text or email notifications when there is specific activity on your card, such as use for gas purchases, international purchases, purchases over a certain dollar amount, when there are transactions taking place out of designated times and much more.
If you lose your card or believe it has been stolen, call us at 314.962.6363 or 618.239.6363 during normal business hours (8-6 Monday-Friday, 8-noon on Saturday) or 888.918.7744 before/after business hours.
PIN-based debit card transactions incur a 25-cent fee, while signature-based purchases (press "credit" and sign instead of entering a PIN) are free. Read our FAQs here.
When using your debit card at an ATM, look for any of these network labels on the ATM, where your card is sure to work. Remember, transactions won't cost you anything when you use your card at an ATM that has a CO-OP Network Surcharge-Free logo displayed.
Check out this infographic comparing available CO-OP Network ATMs in the United States to those offered by some of the biggest banks.
Your Visa debit card allows you to conduct transactions on the CO-OP, PULSE, STAR and PLUS networks. Some merchants are authorized to accept non-Visa debit transactions without requiring you to enter your PIN. If you choose to sign to authorize a debit transaction, the transaction will be routed as a Visa transaction. Provisions of your cardholder agreement that specifically relate to Visa transactions are inapplicable to non-Visa transactions. For instance, a non-Visa debit transaction will not provide Visa's Zero Liability Protection benefit.
