Courtesy Pay is a service that allows Arsenal Credit Union to pay an item drawn against your checking account even if that transaction overdraws the account. Those items can be checks, ATM or debit card transactions, or automatic electronic payments.
What does this mean?
A $28 fee will be charged for each overdraft paid via Courtesy Pay.
Up to $500 in overdrafts and fees will be paid. Once a Courtesy Pay transaction has cleared, you have 30 days to bring your account back up to a positive balance.
The Courtesy Pay feature is automatically activated for checks at the time you open a checking account, as long as you are a member in good standing and age 18 or older. An electronic overdraft service authorization will be presented to you at the time you open your checking account if you'd like for Courtesy Pay to be extended to ATM and debit card transactions. You can opt out anytime by contacting us.
Courtesy Pay allows us to provide our members with a higher level of service by helping protect your account and reputation when an inadvertent overdraft occurs. However, it's important to remember to monitor your account activity, record all balances and transactions, and maintain sufficient funds within your checking account. We encourage you to take advantage of the many free services we offer — online banking, mobile banking, text message banking and our automated phone teller — to help you keep track of your account.
